We share a common future, and we are here to find common ground so that we may help bring new dignity and respect to women and girls all over the world, and in so doing bring new strength and stability to f***lies as well.
通过齐聚在北京，我们把世界的目光聚焦在严重困扰我们生活的问题上——妇女及其家人的生活：受教育机会、医疗保健、就业和信贷、享受基本的法律和人权的机会以及充分参与我们国家的政治生活。
By gathering in Beijing, we are focusing world attention on issues that matter most in our lives—the lives of women and their f***lies: access to education, health care, jobs and credit, the chance to enjoy basic legal and human rights and to participate fully in the political life of our countries.
有些人怀疑此次会议召开的原因。让他们听听他们家中、邻居和工作场所中妇女的声音。有些人怀疑妇女和女孩问题对于世界经济和政治进展的影响力。让他们看看聚集在怀柔这里的妇女——家庭主妇和护士、教师和律师、决策者和经营自己的企业女性。这是一个迫使任何地方的政府和人们倾听、注视和面对世界上最紧迫问题的会议。毕竟，这是十年前在内罗毕的聚焦世界目光的第一次家庭暴力危机的妇女会议后的又一次会议。
There are some who question the reason for this conference. Let them listen to the voices of women in their homes, neighborhoods, and workplaces. There are some who wonder whether the lives of women and girls matter to economic and political progress around the globe. Let them look at the women gathered here and at Huairou—the homemakers and nurses, the teachers and lawyers, the policymakers and women who run their own businesses. It is conferences like this that compel governments and peoples everywhere to listen, look, and face the world’s most pressing problems. Wasn’t it after all—after the women’s conference in Nairobi ten years ago that the world focused for the first time on the crisis of domestic violence?
